Chrissy sighed as she stood there, at the cash register of the Paper Lantern on a saturday night and checked in someones order. The week had gone by completely boring, except for Devin, in which her mind had been turning to completely. Devin, Devin, Devin, if she didn't know any better, she would say she as obsessed. But she couldn't be, she just had to turn her mind.
Well, work didn't help. Whenever the door opened, her eyes would turn to it and look for Devin in the faces of strangers and sometimes friends. Chrissy figured she was going crazy as she served a couple some food and their drinks. She had to be going crazy or something, what else! School was a bore and Adams and her had yet to hang out. This made her frown, she needed to clear her mind..maybe she would go shopping or something. Maybe...
Chrissy sighed as she rang up another check for a different couple, handing the lady the bill she moved into the back, taking a drink of water.

There wasn't anything to do on Saturday...Friday...and Salem just knew there would probably nothing to do on Sunday. Walking through the night he blew a breath of fire to heat his self up. It was a small flame so no one would really notice, he liked to show off his powers only in privacy. Or maybe he should say power since his only active power is pyrokinesis. His other passive power emphatic mimicry. Yeah that was real helpful in a fight.
It was hard to live through the night considering the fact in all reality he was homeless. Well on a technicality he was homeless, the empty apartment that he sleeps in and redecorated was abandoned y the city years ago. But he made it into a home, luckily he woke up extremely early to the fake address for the bus to pick him up.
That was the painfully story of his life so he decided to fill the void in his life...with food. And what better place than the Paper Lantern. Entering he immediately said his order to the woman behind the counter. "Large orange chicken with rice along with some shrimp Lo Mein and...tch...Lemonade." Then he eventually looked up, "Well...if it isn't a fellow schoolmate." He smiled at the semi-familiar face.

Well, standing there zoning didn't work either, so she decided to go and clean tables, although another costumer came in and she stood there, writing down the order. Then she blinked, a fellow schoolmate? She looked up, oh lord save her. She didn't expect villains to come to the Paper Lantern...it wasn't the coolest place in town. She sighed. "Well well well, whatever, take a seat, your food will be right up." She said, a fake smile on her face as she turned, walking into the kitchen.
Oh great, just what she needed, she sighed as she walked back out. Another student, a villain none-the-less in the paper lantern. Devin she wouldn't have minded. She had his lemonade in her hand and sat it down in front of him with a napkin, chopsticks, a fork, a spoona nd a knife along with extra napkins. "Your food will be ready soon."

"Thank you. And man you seem troubled." Salem said it was written all over her face. But he doubted that she would talk to him, he was a Vanguard of course and enemy to the Sky High. But they were now actual schoolmates now. So Salem somewhat expect some type of sympathy. Oh well.
"Man Sky High students are so uptight." he replied as he circled the straw in his lemonade before taking a sip. "So why don't you confess some pain to Dr. Salem...why does that make me sound like Salem from Sabrina?"

She just smiled and walked back, getting his food and taking a few deep breaths. Was her distress really that apparent? And here she was, thinking she hid it so well. She sighed, grabbing his food and coming out, placing the plates on the table. 'Dr. Salem? Here is your food." She just laughed, shrugging off the notion and moved, serving other people and ticking in orders.
Though it would be nice to talk to someone..he was from Vanguard..and a villain...and hated her probably.

Salem was starting to get the idea that she wasn't liking him anymore. It didn't matter really he could still find what is wrong with her eventually. Everyone breaks down to Dr. Salem one day or another. He smiled at her leaving, "Seriously if you don't open up your problems are going to swell up and you might explode...and with people like us we need to keep our emotions in check...you know that"
She had to know that he was right, Hell he knew he was right. They needed more care in the emotional department. If their emotions weren't in check all the type of Hellfire would rise. He stared at her to see if there was going to be any reactions.

She froze, turning to him. "You may be right...." She then sighed. "I get off in a half hour. I'll talk then if your still here." She turned and finished serving some people their drinks before disappearing into the kitchen.
Why did he want her to let her emotions out to him anyways? It was complicated she guessed and the hour passed quickly. She walked out, a bag slung over her shoulder, wondering if he was still here

A half an hour out of his life was nothing to him, as he finished his food. All that was left was his lemonade. Salem really wandered if she would actually talk to him. It would be shocking but not that shocking. Did she have anyone else to confide in that was willing to listen.
No not at this hour, and by time she did he would obtain her power. Whatever it was. Even though it wasn't like him to absorb power from random people he needed some more. He just hoped hers was worth it. Still in all reality he wanted to help her.

She looked at his table and gave a small smile. She then walked over. "Are you done with your lemonade, Salem?" She asked, pointing to his drink. Would he be someone good to confide in? Yeah...she figured it wouldn't hurt too much. Wow, she was a lousy hero. Talking to villains...maybe she should have been a villain. She laughed on the inside as she gestured for him to follow her.
"Life is just...hectic. You know?" She said, clasping her hands together as a burst of cool air hit them when they both stepped outside. She had collected her check and it was safely tucked within her purse, she looked at Salem. "Don't you think it is weird...talking to a hero?" She asked him, crossing her arms.

Listening to her explain the reason of her suspicion. "Not at all. I'm not a villain." he really doesn't do anything villainous or heroic. Sure there were some Vanguard graduates that later became villains, but that didn't make him an automatic villain did it? At the same time Vanguard had a few heroes come out. Sure their old school wasn't perfect, but neither was Sky High.
Even they have their even share of villains spurted out unexpectedly. He just assumed her to have thought that he was going to be a villain in the future. Was her power precognition? That would be a nice power to have. "I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but I'm not a a villain. Sure I'm villainous but not a villain, either way we aren't here to talk about me. This is your time."
He was a good listener and a good therapist since he had many of those before.

Chrissy looked at him as they walked through the cool air. "Not a villain? Hm." She smiled as he talked, listening to him was nice, adn it would be nice ot unload on someone. She pulled her hair into a tight pony tail and pulled her coat around her. "Well, if you must know what has been bugging me..." She said, looking away from him, hesitating.
Would it be a good idea? How did she know he wouldn't just splurt out her crush to everyone on the street..in school...or worse..to Devin. She blinked, she didn't know. Chrissy just had to...tell him. She looked over at him. "It's...well it's this guy...I really like him but I don't know if he likes me back." She said, playing with her fingers, fidgeting is something she did best.

"That is the hardest, being unable to predict what will happen. If he does like you excellent, but if not that sucks like HELL! And it is just a 50/50 chance, but you probably don't want to take that chance for many reasons. Rejection hurts of course, also he might embarrass you if he doesn't like you. The best type of plan would be maybe not sure but pull him to the side and talk. Have to take a chance eventually right?" that was a mouthful for Dr. Salem.
"Any other problems?" he asked before looking at her shake. Could be from the conversation or the cold. Well he could do something about the cold. Placing his hands in his pant pockets he emitted out heat from his body so that it could pass through her.

She shook her head. "Unless you could get rid of annoying sisters." She said, laughing. Salem was nice and she kind of shrugged, letting the night at the paper lantern scan over her memory. "IT doesn't matter about him, I know he doesn't like me." THat was what she had to tell herself so she took a deep breath.
"So what about you Dr. Salem? Any problems in your life?" She asked, looking at him, she blinked wondering where the heat was coming from then realized it was from him and smiled, looking ahead. At least she wouldn't be cold.

"And you know he doesn't like you...are you 1000% sure..." he asked. That would seem weird to continue crushing on someone who you know for a fact doesn't like you. Unless that person knew they might have a chance. Then again they all are teenagers so they were even more unpredictable. Speaking of unpredictable she asked him about problems in his life.
"Well..." he said dragging out the the word as he tilted on his heels and toe constantly. I have the average teenage problems. From my daily crush to figuring how to adapt to Sky High. And to deal with my rival.

"Well...he said he has to be a villain..." She said, fingering his number in her pocket and she looked at him. They sounded pretty average, his problems. Her problems were teenager average and she sighed. "I guess we all have problems." She laughed, sitting on a bench and crossing her legs. "Such is the life of being a teenager in high school, especially ones with powers..."
Chrissy looked over at Salem. "YOu have daily crushes?" She said, laughing.
