Chrissy must have been jumpy all day. School had been boring, as always, except her seeing Devin, which made her happy. But that was bad, she wasn't supposed to fall for a guy in...2.5 seconds! IT was very very very very bad and so she took deep breaths, trying to calm herself as the clock ticked by, moving closer to five. Chrissy wore light blue jeans and a brown and blue shirt, it was cute and her curly hair was pulled into a pony tail.
She looked at the clock as she punched in another persons order. Ah, five could not come fast enough, but she needed to calm down, or else he would surely not want to be her friend anymore> She was almost positive he was sick of her right now as she stuck a flower in her pony tail, wrapping herself in it's fragrance.

Mud-water splashed up onto Devin's newly attained white cargo pants as he ran down the sidewalk of Maxville. He couldn't believe he was running late all ready, and to make it worse the rain was falling down heavier than ever. At times like these he wished he hadn't spent so much time styling his hair, not that that mattered now. Surely his hair was flat against his head, and the remaining gel would make sure it would stay there.
If it weren't for the light-grey undershirt that Devin had worn under his off-white buttoned up shirt you could probably see right through to his slightly muscular (although nothing special) torso. "Crap, she's going to hate me. I knew I should have used the mousse instead, too late now. Everything had been kind of weird lately, ever since he met Chrissy he hasn't been able to think straight. If he were, he probably would have had his psionic armour up to protect him from the weather.
He made a sharp left turn and burst through the doors. As he halted to a stop everybody's attention in the restaurant was focused on him as he tried to regain his breath. He looked around nervously and gave a weak smile, just hoping nobody would make a smart-ass remark. He was not liable for what he would if he wasn't thinking properly.

Chrissy looked at the clock. He was late, but she just shrugged, cleaning dishes and then, just as she was leaving the kitchen, her bag slung over her shoulder she watched as he poured in. And her mind went to 50 million different thoughts, all circled around him. She smiled. "Wonderful entrance." She said, holding back laughter with a hand over her mouth, a bright smile on her face.
She took his wrist, bringing him into the back kitchen part and grabbing a towel. "Here." She giggled, handing him the towel and digging an umbrella out of her bag. "I didn't realize how hard it was raining." She commented, leaning against the wall, her boss giving her a look she just ignored. "But thanks for showing up." She said, smiling at him as she grabbed a drink of water and put on her coat.

As Devin was pulled into the back the rest of the restaurant's patrons slowly started to turn back to their conversations, or maybe they were starting new ones. Whatever the case was, Devin was glad to be out of the spotlight. Devin grabbed the towel and went to dry his hair off, even though it would probably stay all messed up with the amount of gel in there. At least it wouldn't be glued to his face.
He started to laugh at the insanity of all of it. His entrance, her trying not to laugh, being in the kitchen with her boss glaring at them. He shrugged it all off and looked down, he really should have worn a coat or jacket or something, he found himself rather exposed. Although it's nothing she hasn't all ready seen before. "Uhh, yeah. Sorry I'm late, but we don't have noble steeds like you heroes, I had to make due on foot. So, now what?"

She look edat him, laughing as he dried off and she laughed and then shrugged. "My noble steed is in the repair shop, it's fine." She smiled, popping open the umbrella. "Well, we can go to my house...or the movies....or...somewhere...wait not my house." She just remembered her sisters were back from a sleepover and she laughed. "My little sisters...they are home." She said, as if that gave enough explaination. Which she hoped it did, especially after their conversation last night.
Chrissy walked with him, the umbrella over their heads and she smiled, the rain made her happy, it kept her rejuvenated, like it did with plants. She looked ahead of them. "Or we could go anywhere, what would you like to do, Devin? I'd like to get to know you a lot better." She admitted, glancing at him.

Devin didn't bother to dry anything other than his hair, it wouldn't be worth the effort. It wasn't until Chrissy popped open an umbrella that he remembered they wouldn't need that. Man, he was getting really flustered. "I know it doesn't look it, but I can keep us dry. If you remember what I can do," Devin winked at her, as though the cafeteria was a secret.
He shrugged his shoulders, how should he know where to go? Usually the guys did what the girls wanted, or else they were bad boyfriends. At least that's what the TV said, wait, was he her boyfriend? Why did he have to think of that, especially now? He shook his head, rattling the thoughts loose. "Yeah, it's too early to meet the parents anyway, don't you think? A movie sounds like a safe bet to me, I guess. I mean, if it's okay with you."

Chrissy laughed as he winked at her. "what if I wanted to get wet hmm?" She asked, laughing and then nodded. "A movie sounds great, but what movie?" She asked, leading the way to the movie theatre. The night really was a beautiful night, plus the rain, in Chrissy's eyes, made it all the better. "I love the rain, I think it s the best thing in the world." She commented quietly and then looked at him. "Meet the parents? You make it sound like we are dating." She smiled.
And her mind drifted, her dating Devin. She only wished and knew this was weird enough. What was she going to do? Falling for him was bad news, he was a villain, with very wonderful hero tendancies and the cutest ever. She couldn't help but like him, she guessed but she had to NOT show it, which was pretty hard.

What just happened? Were they dating? Devin couldn't do that, it wouldn't work out, not with what he had to do. He was a villain, she was a hero. Anybody could tell that it wouldn't work out and Devin would have to hurt her eventually. Sure, he was falling more and more for this girl each time they met, but a villain doesn't act on any emotion but anger. Or various others that are fueled by anger or hatred. It was like an unwritten law.
Devin shut his eyes tight, he couldn't stop thinking about it. He finally grabbed Chrissy's hands and looked her in the eyes. If they were going to do this things had to be done. "Look, I don't think we can keep this up. At least not along this path. If we're going to do this, we need to talk and I mean it. We can't just keep denying ourselves and avoiding the truth, there are just too many factors. Do you know anywhere a bit more private?"

She was just waiting for a casual response, a flick of her hair behind her shoulder. Ya knoww, nothing special, especially from Devin. She didn't think he liked her like that but when he grabbed her hands she blinked. What was happening? She looked right back at him, confused and knew she was blushing from the contact. Though she was thoroughly confused, she knew what he was talking about, and really wished she didn't.
Chrissy slowly nodded, knowing he was right. He liked her too, but ...he was a villain and she was a hero and she looked around, taking his hand she ran through the rain, going into the park, deep in the park she stopped, blanketed by canopies of leaves she looked at him. "I..it doesn't get any more private than this, no one comes back here...especially in the rain..." And she knew to.she was back her a lot, working her powers and jsut making everything better. She knelt down, making a hut that kept them from the rain and looked at him. "I...I"m sorry." She said finally, looking down.

As he was being led into the back lot he couldn't fight off all of the thoughts anymore, it was time to acknowledge them for what they were. He sorted it all out in a matter of seconds, nothing made sense still, but at least now he knew his thoughts were his own. He looked down to Chrissy, as solemn as he had ever been since he'd seen her. Perhaps the first he hasn't smiled since he saw her the first day.
It had all happened so fast, he just wasn't sure. What if he had to fight her, or worse. He would have to fight with all he had and only one of them would have walked out of the fight, he was sure of it. "Chrissy..." he hesitated, he really didn't want to have this talk, at all. "Chrissy, I'm sorry. I know I want this, badly. I've never felt this way, I mean you've changed me and fast. But I think we both know this can't work. I have to be a villain, and you're destined for so much more. I don't want to have been the one to bring you down... he stopped again, waiting. He had pretty much blurted it all out there, and now all he had left to do was probably get slapped by Chrissy.

Chrissy blinked, looking at him as he started talking. She followed every word and her eyes soon clouded, and she stood there, trying to find the right thing to say. "I..it's.....I'm a hero..you..you're a villain..but you..you don't have to be Devin!" She didn't want it to end like this, she had already fallen. She wasn't able to stop it, she couldn't just stop liking him. "You aren't..bringing me down Devin....You won't bring me down...we can work around this...c..can't we?"
It probably sounded pathetic, she was reaching for the last threads of what she wanted with him. what he wanted but he wouldn't strive for. "Devin..please don't..." She bit her bottom lip, no she wouldn't cry, not in front of him and she wiped her face, happy that the rain helped cover it up, though it was getting hard to see straight.

This was hard enough as it was, he knew he probably should have just left after but it wouldn't be fair to her. She didn't know, she couldn't understand why he was a villain. That didn't matter though, he knew that he had to and to get out he had to be the best villain he could be. He broke down as a couple tears slid down his cheeks, he pulled Chrissy in close to him holding her head in his chest.
All he could do was whisper, otherwise the emotion would show far too easily in his voice. "I...I have to be a villain. It's...well, it's complicated," he wrapped his arms around her waist and slid a piece of paper into her jacket pocket. "Y-You have my number, I'll protect you from almost anyone. But if I have to just know I can't hold back, I want you to be ready, I don't want to have to watch you go." He pulled out and kissed her on the cheek.
With that he started to glow as he created psionic plates in the soled of his shoes and flew off into the rain.

She gasped as she was pulled in, against Devin. Even though all of this bad stuff was happening..she just...couldn't help but notice how nice he felt, the smell of him and she blinked, tears finally falling as she wrapped her arms around him. She didn't want him to go, didn't want it to end like this. She didn't understand. "No devin..no..you..you don't...please.." her voice was a whisper as the tears fell harder,.
He gave her his number and she watched him fly away, breaking down even more in that spot. Lesson learned, she told herself. Never fall for a villain...especially one that breaks your heart. She wiped her eyes and ran home through the rain. She didn't want this...she...what could she do? She stared at the number in her bedroom, blocking her door with vines so no one could bug her and the tears fell again. That night she learned to never trust a villain...and that crying yourself to sleep gave you headaches in the morning.
